4/30 advice to younger self

List 10 things you would tell your 16 year-old self, if you could.

1 - Don't be afraid to say what you need to say.  What you're afraid of, what you need, what you want, what you believe.  Hiding things is the fastest way to destroy a meaningful connection

2 - drugs and alcohol are not the answer

3 - cutting leaves scars you're stuck explaining the rest of your life

4 - The meaningful friendships you make now will be there for you when you need them later in life.

5 - Don't let people into your life just because they show a moment of interest

6 - follow your dreams, and don't let anybody tell you you're not good enoguh

7 - Stop, breathe, and think before you do something.  It takes a second to stop yourself from a lifetime of regret.

8 - Follow your instincts.  If something feels wrong, chances are it is.

9 - If someone seems to be hiding something, like telling you they are ok when they aren't (suicidal, for example) ask for help.  It's better for them to be mad at you for a while than DEAD forever.

10 - You're parents might be annoying, but they really do have your best interests at heart.  Even if they have trouble showing it, they really do love you.

I am thankful for the mistakes I made.  I have been able to learn from them, and I can show my girls what happens if you make those mistakes.  I hope I can save from those same mistakes.
