And it's hard to believe it went so fast. There were times it seemed it would last forever, and the heat just kept us from doing anything at all. And then there were times it felt like the summer was gone in the blink of an eye. Today was the day i realized summer vacation is just days from being over.
Today we went grocery shopping early, and then it was registration day at the school. We walked in the door, and sitting at the front were Mr. Peters, and Mr. Dennis, who both welcomed Ivy back with a warm smile and even a hug. Then walking down the hall, we ran into the principal, who gave Ivy a big hug and said welcome back. Then we ran into Ms Chandler, who was the greatest. We gave her a gift last year, and she had it sitting on the shelf behind her desk in her classroom today, gave Ivy a great big hug, said she missed her, and was glad she was back, then showed her the gift on the shelf. Ivy was all smiles. It was nice to see. Then we went into the cafeteria, where they were doing the enrollment, and one of the Office aids was there, and welcomed us all back and all that fun stuff. It was good to see. Then Ivy found out i was right about her being in Mrs. Danners class (who i think is a great teacher. Really nice to the kids) SO we went in, met her teacher, updated her file, and all that great jazz. Then we came back home and Ivy and I took her school supplies over and dropped them off. One less thing to fuss with the first day of school.
The rest of today is going to be spent around the house out of the heat. The girls are playing in the bedroom, i'm watching the end of Charmed (just a few episodes from the finale) and resting because i've had a headache for the last three days. Maybe later the girls and I will do an arts and crafts project, or play a game, or something like that.
Then tomorrow i'm gonna focus on the girls hair. get it all brushed out, washed, picked through, and maybe give it a little trim. And then we are gonna go ahead and pick out her clothes for the first day of school, pack the backpack up (with her change of clothes, Just in case) and start going to bed earlier (probably start that tonight) and tomorrow morning i'll have Ruben wake me up with a cup of coffe in the morning, so i can get used to the mornings again.
wednesday is gonna be the last day home, and hopefully we can get it all taken care of and ready to go, and maybe even go get Ivy a new backpack (maybe).
Then bright and early Thursday morning is school. Ivy of course will be up early, when daddy gets in, and eat her breakfast and get dressed and all that. Then Ruben will wake me up at 8 with coffee, and i'll get up and ready to take her, and then we will leave the house about 8:40ish to get her there in time for the 9am start of the day. :) I'm sure it's gonna be a lot easier this year than last, since she already knows the school, and the teacher, and all the diferent teachers and classes she's got. And i know this year too she's gonna go out for dance. Mr. Dennis (the dance teacher) asked her on the way out of she was gonna go out for dance this year, and she smilled BIG and said yes. SOO, hopefully that's not TOO much, or we are gonna have to find a way to make it work. I'm not gonna deny her that if we can manage to make it work, ya knwo? And next year won't be a problem at all.
Friday will be school, and Ruben, Desiree, and I will probably find something to kill some time. Not sure what, but we will. Saturday we will probably either do the Zoo as a family, or we will go for an early morning walk. get some good family time in there, ya know? Sunday is laundry, of course. Then a week of school. Desiree's birthday is next thursday, so we will do her party probably that weekend, if not that day. (depends on daddy at that point) Then i need to start planning for Ivy's birthday, which will be Sept 5th. Gotta figure out where to have it, rather or not to invite a lot of people, etc. Don't think we will have much money again this year, but we will see what we can come up with. If nothing else, we might have a party at the end of the school year, or for something like that, just to have one for the girls.
Still hard to believe it's almost over, but i think i will be glad to be back to a good old routine again. Summer is so hard because of the lack of routine. Always has been for me. So school is good for all of us. And Ivy's got her own chore list this time, so we will do less fighting (I hope)
Neway, gotta lay back down. Head is starting to kill me again. LATERS
