List 10 people who have influenced you and describe how.
1 - Ruben - Yeah, typical first response is the spouse, but it's true. When we first met, I had no idea who I was or what I wanted to be. I had super low self-esteem, and never felt good enough. But he opened my eyes up and showed me how beautiful I am. He supports me in everything I strive to do, and pushes me to be a better person. Yeah, we've had our moments, but what married couple doesn't? He has shown me that it's ok not to be perfect, and that just being the best we can be is all that matters.
2 - My best friends: Cassie and Ashley - In a time of my life when the world seemed to be falling apart at home, they were always there for me. They kept me sane, and kept me stable, and didn't run away when I was my difficult self. They made me laugh, and made me cry, and we fought, but it was because we all really cared about each other. They still are there for me, no matter what. We may not talk all the time, but when we do, it's like we spoke just yesterday. They believe in me, and I hope they know i believe in them too.
3 - Christina - I met Chris through Medeas grove (sp?) When Ruben and I got handfasted/married, she's the one that did the ceremony. And after that first handfasting, we became quick friends. She opened my eyes to the world and everything in it. I had been sheltered, and she showed me things I never really thought about. She helps me discover things, and she shows me that it's ok to be a little wild sometimes. We don't get to talk much anymore, but she's still one of the better friends i've got in my life.
4 - My orchestra teacher - Mr. Thelman was one of those teachers that would push you to be your best. He helped me discover a passion. He was my teacher in both 6th grade, and high school. He made learning how to play fun. He helped push me to be better every day. And it took 3 years of high school, but all that hard work, and attention, and practice helped me accomplish both All Region AND All State (which i'd never made EITHER before my senior year) And all that attention helped me maintain a seat in the first violins for my senior year. It was amazing to show all that hard work pay off.
5 - My theatre teacher, Mrs. Elsken - Again, this was one of the teachers that opened my eyes up to something i was passionate about. I LIVED in the fine arts department my Senior year. I spent HOURS in the theatre department. Building set, working props, costumes, rehearsals, etc. I had something to do with almost every production my senior year, and even a special production over the summer. She believed in me, and when i was doing stupid things in school, she was always there to help. It was fun, and i'm thankful for that time.
6 - My grandmother, Allene - She was the perfect example of loving someone despite their differences. She was one religion, and married to my grandfather who did not believe the same way. She taught me that it's ok not to be perfect, or not be the same. And I try every day to live my life the same way.
7 - Misty - She showed me that it's ok to be who we are, even when the rest of the world might think we are crazy or wrong. Even if the rest of the world doesn't think it's right doesn't mean it's not right for you, and I'm glad she was brave enough to show me that. It helps me stand behind things i believe a lot better now.
And truth be told, that's all I can think of right now. If I come up with the other three, i'll post an edit. But until then, that's what I've come up with.
I am thankful for the people in my life that have had an inflluence. Even if it was a bad influence, it's made me who I am today. They are all part of me in some small way. Building blocks, if you will, that led to who I am today. And I Love them for it. :)
