Merry Christmas,
Happy Yule,
and have a great holiday season
For those who celebrate something else
Christmas time always has me a bit torn.
Knowing why a lot of people celebrate the holiday confuses me
Because the facts of the matter are not the reasons
Yeah, the reason for the season may be spending time with family, and that's all well and good. But spreading lies to your children, making them believe that Jesus was born on Christmas day and that the holiday was created for that purpose is really just wrong. Celebrate the time with family, showing them how much they mean. But never forget where the holiday REALLY started. It is not a Christian holiday at all in origin. It's PAGAN. And honestly, THAT holiday makes more sense this time of year. Celebrating the end of winter, and the beginning of something new and bright and happy. Being happy for the new year we are going to receive, and seeing the blessings in that.
But whatever.
To each their own.
Didn't mean to be a scrouge.
Anyway, this year was a bit difficult for me. It was full of heartbreak, and hardships, and struggle. Between the physical, financial, and mental stresses we dealt with, It really is a miracle that we've made it as far as we have in such good shape. Maybe a little worse for wear, and a little more worn around the edges, but we are still in one piece for the most part. And that's what matters in the end right?
One thing this year did show me was that we have such amazing friends and family. And even complete strangers are such an amazing blessing. We weren't able to afford much for christmas. We had two gifts a piece under the tree for the girls, and that was it. And that's just not really enough in my opinion. BUT, thanks to the amazing generosity of completely strangers, we ended up with more presents than we could fit under the tree. The gifts we got for the family really went over well too. We paid attention, since we knew it was one gift a piece, and got them all something they'd actually use. A Calvin and Hobbs book for the person who kept "stealing" Rubens to read. A mini-crock pot for the girls who is just as obsessed with cheese dip as I am. A pocket knife for the person who didn't really have a good one. A book full of stories that one had never read in the genre that he likes to read. Beautiful art work for the person who really appreciates pictures of wolves. Everyone was happy with what we got. And that was awesome.
Ruben and I didn't really get to get much for each other. But even the things we got were pretty great. I got Ruben the model he wanted and he painted up a few really awesome mousling models. If you don't know what they are, these are the ones he got me:
That's not the paint job he did, but those are the models. Aren't they freaking cute?? Yeah, I loved the fact that he spent so much time making them so perfect for me. :) And we are gonna work on a little environment for them to go in so I can display them in my bedroom.
And this is the model I got for him:
Which was the one he REALLY wanted. So all in all we did really good for each other. And I'm gonna be doing some work soon and we are probably gonna use some of that money to buy each other something, or go out and do something together. It'll be kool, I'm sure. :)
For Desi, she had asked Santa for Princess Cadence:
So that's what she got for her santa gift.
And Ivy asked for Clawdeen Wolf:
So that was her santa gift.
Both girls were super excited, and that made me super excited too. It was nice to see their faces when they actually got what they asked Santa for. Usually we can't afford it. This year, thanks to Layaway we were. :) They really did make out like bandits, lol. And I am beyond thankful.

It's hard to believe that I'm just over a month away from turning 30. That's a bit crazy to me, lol. But truthfully I'm ready for it. I don't feel 30 most days, lol. I do have days where I feel 80, haha. But most of those days are few and far between, and due to the weather and my health. I am truly blessed to have the greatest friends and family in the world. If you'd told me when I was 18 that by the time I was 30 I'd have been married for 10 years and have two kids - one in double digits next year, I'd have laughed in your face. But here I am, lol. So I'm trying to plan a killer party. I've tried in years past, but nobody ever showed up. Yet, I'm going to try anyway, lol. Gonna probably have it at a friends house that's a bit closer to everyone I'd invite, So that'd be a good start. Then we are probably gonna make it a potluck type thing. Bring a desert or something like that. Might play a few board games or card games, watch a few movies, and just hang out and be merry. :) Could even care less about gifts. HOPEFULLY that will get more people to actually show up. And if not, i'm sure Ruben will make it awesome.
I am beyond ready for next year. Can ya tell? I think I've only said it in this blog a billion times, lol. New TV so we can play games again. Car that actually RUNS without being an old grumpy butt (mind you, If I were the equivilant of how old Gypsy - the '95 grand am - is after being run into the ground, I'd be a grumpy butt too, lol) Being caught up on bills will be great. New clothes too. Just lots of IMPORTANT things planned. HOPEFULLY we can make them all work. Not a huge deal, as long as THOSE things happen. That, and making a trip to Arkansas in March and Ruben being able to take that week off cause both girls are going to be staying with my mom that whole week. :) Could turn out pretty darn awesome, lol. Guess we will just have to see. It better work out!
Tomorrow I need to get off my butt and get some stuff done around the house. It's a bit of a mess, lol. It's ok though. I doubt I'll be leaving the house until Thursday anyway, haha. And this weekend we are gonna HAVE to get to the library and exchange the books we have out.
I'm having a pretty awesome day. Fireplace with a beautiful fire, comfy Pjs, fuzzy blanket, and a Dr. Who marathon on TV? yes please, lol. Pretty relaxing day, and that's what really matters don't ya know?
Anyway
I wanted to say thank you
I Love You
And I only hope that I can show you
just how thankful I am.
LATER TATER!
