and this weekend was ABSOLUTLY crazy, lol.
It got a little intense for a while Friday. We were painting some models for James, and then we were gonna take them out and mow his lawn. But the weather, it seems, had other ideas. It started raining and getting a bit crazy about 2-3ish (I can't remember for sure what time it was). Then we were watching the weather, with a tornado ripping through downtown and down through south OKC. Then we heard one was headed for Crossroads Mall (Which is literally right around the corner from us) when the POWER WENT OUT! Freaked us all out a little bit. So we had the girls and the pets in the bathroom and Ruben and I were standing in the living room listening for the tornado, since you can hear them coming, ya know? Turns out not long after the power died, it made a sharp right and went south of us - THANK GOD! That was a bit intense, heh. So that was fun.
And then the power stayed off - with the net and the phone and cable down too SOO, we all just kinda crashed early and slept it off. Well, the other three did at least. I can't sleep in silence, my tablet was dying, and I had no way to charge it. That was FUN! UGH! Thank goodness I have a cute little lamp that I turned on over the bed and I sat and made a crochet bag until my sleep aid finally kicked my butt and knocked me out. Then Saturday we had to get up and keep the girls occupied. So we went by the store and got some breakfast (since we didn't get to eat dinner because our stove and microwave are all electric, which was out) and then went down to the canal for a walk. Didn't let the girls play at the park cause it was wet and we weren't sure how long the power would be out. Then we came home and I took a nap (since I was able to put a little charge on my tablet). Then when I woke up, we went by the store for some lunch and then took them to the park and let them run through the muddy water and play on the wet playground. Hey, they had fun, lol. Then when we got home power was FINALLY back on. So we went and got groceries for dinner, cleaned on the house a bit, and I took another nap - this time a good one cause I had my fan, the house was cool, and I was able to plug my tablet in. Net and phone were still out, but it could have been WAY worse, ya know?
Then overnight Saturday, Ruben had game night, and finished the majority of James paintjob. Then I got up and helped him finish the bases. Then we went out so he could mow and the girls and I could hang out with jacqui. He got home and into bed late, and I got over to do laundry late, but it wasn't the end of the world. When we got back to the house, net and phone were back on, so that was good.Was able to help my mother in law out with her food situation too, since they didn't get their food stamps. So we got a little bit of groceries for them, and a few things for us too. Did pizza last night. Gonna do Chicken Marinara for dinner tonight.
It was nice to not have to do anything at all today. After the weekend, and as much as we had to do to help keep the girls calm, and occupied, and all of that jazz, I was EXHAUSTED! So i pretty much just lounged around all day watching movies and stuff. I needed that.
I know living here is a crazy challenge sometimes. Dealing with the crazy weather, and the crazy people, can wear you out super fast. But there are so many things we love here that I'm not sure we will ever really move out of the area. Between the movie theatres with their awesome matinee prices (4 bucks for a brand new movie!) the water canal and how beautiful it is year round, and the zoo and our zoofriends pass and the ability for the girls and I to go to the zoo whenever we want to for the price of the gas to get there and back (which is WAY less than the prices of tickets), I'm not sure we'd be happy anywhere else after living here as long as we have, heh. (Although, I'm sure I could get used to it if we found somewhere with things we love too - just have to see what happens in the future)
Tomorrow we will probably go get groceries and then I doubt I'll be up for much else again. So tired of the exhaustion, ya know? I miss the days where I could go for days on end, and keep up with the girls, and not just absolutly crash every time that I sat down.
Anyway, gonna have some more weather moving in tonight for the next couple days (potentally) so i'll be keeping up with that again.
Anyway, I'm out of here.
